Android smartphones have been undergoing a sea of change recently. They are becoming more and more powerful each day and the same thing can be said about the screen size. Earlier smartphones started off with 2.5-3.5 inch screens and now we’re looking at screens in excess of 5-inches as the standard.
As for Xiaomi, their recently launched flagship, the Mi5 has been received extremely well by the critics and people alike. It created quite a buzz during its launch event. Xiaomi has decided to strike the pan while it’s still hot and they are gearing up for a ‘big’ launch, in the literal sense.
The past few weeks have been filled with a lot of leaks from different phone makers. There is no official confirmation on most of them. Xiaomi’s latest offering, the Max, has been leaked and it cannot be called a smartphone. But it cannot be called a tablet either. It is like somewhere in the middle. It is small to be called a tablet, but too large to be called a smartphone. Xiaomi is trying to carve out a completely new niche in the Android smartphone market with the launch of this one.
Only the design aspects of the phone have been leaked so far. Xiaomi Max is apparently going to come out with a massive 6.4-inch screen that is just 0.6-inch short of a standard 7-inch tab. Going by the leaked renders, Max will be very similar to the recently launched Mi5 in terms of looks. It has got curved edges and really thin bezels just like the Mi5. A hardware home button is also present in the leaked image which suggests the incorporation of a fingerprint scanner in the front. According to rumor mills, the specifications of the Max will definitely place it in the flagship category. It will definitely be stiff competition for the Galaxy Note 5.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the Max will come with Snapdragon 820, which just makes it brush past its competitors. The display is rumored to be a QHD display and that too is just awesome. Hopefully, it will have support for a stylus. The RAM will most probably be around the 4GB mark and internal storage will probably be at 32GB and 64GB. It has to be seen whether the camera will be as advanced as the Mi5, but going by the rumored specs it will most probably be the same.
