Everything that you need to know about the latest Nokia N1

Nokia N

Once the market leader in mobile phone market and now the support cast behind a number of other mobile phone manufacturing companies, Nokia, after an acquisition by the IT Giant Microsoft, has not been in news until recently, when they announced that they would launch their first ever Tablet phone based on Android, and not on windows, surprisingly (not really!). The deal with the Microsoft compelled Nokia to relinquish its name from all its Smart Phones until the end of 2016 and from all feature phones for a period of 10 years.  However, to bypass this restriction, Nokia can launch a Smart Phone under a different brand name. But rather than choosing that path, the Finland based company has chosen a different route altogether in the form of Tablets and done away with the Smart Phones, of which Nokia was not a leader anyway, which makes this decision to switch focus as smart and tactical. The news also came as a bit of surprise because this would be the first time that Nokia would be laying their hands in the Tablet arena.

The news was surfaced out last year that Nokia would launch its first Tablet named as N1 in the first week of 2015. Though, the tablet would only be launched in China, but still it was massive news in the context of Nokia, the brand in particular. After the news was broken out, there was a buzz about this tablet, right from its unveiling in November 2014 to its launch on January 7, 2015; the buzz was well justified as 20,000 pieces were sold in a little over four minutes time. The subsequent flash sales also resulted in tremendous success for Nokia, which can be termed as massive relief for it as it was seen as a come back of the once reigning leader of the mobile phone market.  To its credit, the tablet N1, manufactured, distributed and sold by Foxconn, is quite feature-heavy and is formed on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop, which makes everyone craving to lay their hands on it very soon. The news from the office is that Nokia will soon launch it in other parts of the world, starting from Europe and then continuing with the rest.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Nokia N1 sports a 7.9 inch IPS LED-backlit display which is protected with Gorilla Glass 3. Now let us get into a bit of technicalities as well which starts from the processor: the tablet is based on a 64-bit 2.3 Ghz Intel Atom Z3580 Processor which is coupled with a powerful PowerVR G6430 GPU. The RAM is 2GB and the internal storage is kept at 32 GB, which is understandably non-expandable. The camera has been the strongest suit of Nokia for years; however, the camera here is not as powerful as we have seen previously, but still the rear camera is an 8-MP autofocus one, while a 5-MP fixed focus camera is used for the front. The battery, at 5300 mAh is very powerful, which makes it last very long even on using it at its full tilt.

The start is encouraging for the Nokia with N1; now let us keep our fingers crossed to see how it would shape for it in the future.
