With over 1,2 billion people as their potential customers, it is not s strange sight that you will see several international smartphone brands such as Samsung or Sony and several local smartphone brands such as Micromax and Karbonn competing to gain supremacy in this emerging market. Below here are the top 5 smartphone brands in India based on the survey gathered by IDC Asia Pacific Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, where they performed the survey based on the shipping quantity and the overall sales in every price segment.
Samsung
With the boombastic unveiling of their flagship product Samsung Galaxy S6 on 1 March, Samsung has securely defended its title as the number one smartphone brand in India. Many teenagers and professionals alike are lining up to get their hands on Samsung Galaxy S6 that offers 5.1 inch display with Snapdragon octa-core processors and 16 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera, all comes in Rs. 52,000. Besides their unveiling with S6 Model, Samsung are also promised to announce the limited edition variant of S6 Edge which makes their faithful fans anticipating for their next unveiling in their future.
HTC
HTC are also remains to be a powerful contender in the markets on India rivaling against Samsung. With their next flagship phone HTC One M9, HTC will try to overthrown Samsung from the top seat by offering a 5-inch full HD display that runs on SnapDragon 810 octa-core CPU added with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage capacity. There is no exact price available yet for this model, but it is expected that it will arrive on the market by the end of March approximately.
Gionee
Hailing from China, Gionee presented their latest device Gionee Elife S7 that sports a 5.2 inch display in full HD equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Gionee may cannot be competing with the giants of Chinese Smartphone such as Oppo and Xiaomi, but their low price and durability is nothing to be scoffed off, and it is proven that their product sell well in India here. Their product, Gionee Elife S7 will come with the price of Rs 29,990 and will hit the shelves on early April.
Microsoft
Since Nokia has been taken over by Microsoft, their latest flagship phone Lumia 640 will adopt Microsoft’s name during their launch. Nokia as the former giant in phone industry is still highly sought on the markets of India, and hopefully with their acquisition with Microsoft, their flagship phone will sell well in India. Sporting a 5 inch screen with 12 GHz quad-core chip, Microsoft Lumia 640 will be cost in mere Rs 13,000 and Rs 17,000 for its XL counterpart. It is expected to be available by March or April in India.
Lenovo
Sporting their affordable smartphone Lenovo A7000 to the India market, Lenovo hopes to gain a market share in India by packaging their latest device in Rs 9,999 price. With 1.5 GHz octa-core CPU that is complemented with 2 GB RAM, the A7000 also supports dual-sim features that are highly sought in India. With low price and highly sought feature, Lenovo is expected to be able to attract quite wealthy sum of customer in India on the A7000 release in March.
